WOW John! I am speechless! Thank you for letting us come along on what will be an epic build. I have read over the plans for this model for the last 2 years and still not ready to tackle it.

Your spoke wheel setup with the lathe and chuck index setup is awesome. I will be building a jig to hold my drill just as you have when the time comes.

The dowel making setup you have is brilliant as well. I am going to make one of those the next time I am in the shop.

As everyone else has said if the wheels are any indication of this model it will be one of the top ever built on here. Did you ebonise the tires or paint them? The finish looks great.

Looking forward to your next update already. Thanks for including your notes. I will have to make a bunch myself as I prepare to start my build on the Mack B61.

Would something like this be easier than mounting the drill could always make one Imperial Precision Boring System With 5/8in. Stem 765116 from Stiles and Bates

Hi Bret, Answer to a couple of queries, the tyres were black stained, the indexing jig I made about 6 years ago for cutting teeth on gears for a clock, turned 90 degrees and fitted a drill, see attachment. Your quote, (I have read over the plans of this model for a couple of years.) Were they plans for this car? I have drawn side elevation, front and plan to 1/8 scale to get sizes , finer detail will be added during construction.

when they say "copy and paste", I would use tracing paper and glue.

Thanks for answering my questions. I had a good laugh (at myself)when I read the last part of your post. My head is quite scrambled at the moment I assumed (makes an ass out of me) that you were using Richard Blizzards plans for a Silver Ghost from one of his books. However upon looking at the book he built a 1907 and I'm sure yours will have a ton more detail than his. My apology for my mistake.

The wheelbase of the Rolls is 143.5 inches=3645 mm, about 700 mm longer than a Holden. 455 mm for the model at 1/8 scale. Attached some photos of the chassis and suspension. regards John

Beauty NF!! The Silver Ghost is one of my all time favourite cars, and I love the story behind it.

Congrats on taking this project on. I am watching with eyes wide open!
