I'm not sure this will be too much clearer than what the directions read but... With 16 spokes you can divide your rim in half by drawing a line through the center across both sides of the rim. You now have two even sections. Divide each section in half again through the center and you will now have 4 equal sections. Dividing each section in half again gives you 8 and the next time 16.

Another way to do this is to use a protactor. Divide the 360 degrees of a circle by the number of spokes, 16, and you will get 22.5 degrees. Place the protractor in the center of your wheel and mark off each 22.5 degrees around the wheel rim. You can also find the center of a piece of paper and use the protractor to mark off the spoke lines. Then use a compass and the same center to draw a circle the diameter of your wheel. Set the wheel on the circle and transfer the spoke lines to the wheel.

If you are going to be making a lot of these wheels I suggest making a marking jig. I have made such a jig for wheels I use on toy wagons. Describing it's building method gets long winded so I hope this photo will suffice.

thanks everyone for there replys i have managed to make a spoked wheel using the information i got from you fella,s this one pictured is a practise wheel i will make a set using walnut for the tyres next time ,once again thanks for your replys
