Toyota MR2 scale 1/11 [scratch build]
Started this build to learn and complete at some stage.
It is my first this type of project that I started good few months ago.
So here it goes with no carpentry experience and no car modeling or any other modeling experience.
engine cover cut out and detailed
engine cover cut out and detailed
side panels cut out as well
drawing of front bonnet
cut out and sanded for further prep work
trying to see layout of parts
side panels drawn up, cut out, sanded down, marked, temporary cross members fitted
panels for doors and windows cut out
more cross members and supports glued in place
test wheels designed and made up, first is only 3cm wide, created smaller for purpose to see flexibility of detail work

WOW... G'Day Ray,
You sure know how to make an entrance as an accomplished wooden toy model maker, very impressive.
Watching with interest.

Great first entry Ray!!!
Those wheels are crackers! You'll have to show how to do them.

I see the Aston Martin DB5 in the corner of your wall. Hope that is on your list for a future build. Love that car. What do you plan on using for windows? Plexiglass?

Sides for windscreen on the body marked, cut out and shaped (front end of frame will need to be further shaped when bonnet properly fitted)

dscn4613.jpgMarking lines where to cut off, remove and shape roof part of body
28022010.jpg28022011.jpg28022012.jpg28022013.jpgTemporary cross members removed, inner side walls shaped, more space for pop up lights gained
dscn4616.jpgdscn4615.jpg
trial hinges made for bonnet...might not stick with these as they work out too big, cool design tho...
dscn4710.jpgdscn4617.jpg
finally came up with right hinge type, now just to make ones that will be for permanent fit

new hinges for bonnet cut out, hardened, painted....should fit perfect

After few days tweaking, cutting, fitting, breaking, refitting...finally got my hinges fitted...now just to finish and paint along the way of other jobs at the front
