Wood Surfboard Scale Model
1st shed project in a long while. Found a piece of scrap fascia (hence the finger joint) and made a prototype. 12" x 4" x 1/2".
Jigsaw, hand plane, belt sander, orbital, hand sand to 180 grit. Now to find some nice wood for the next one.

IMG_20200110_143351.jpgI took some chunks out trying to give the 2nd board nose lift, either I was clumsy or the pine chipped too easily. Thought I had stuffed it, but kept going at it. I will get some filler and paint this model. Thinking about my next shape.

Simple stand, allows people to pick up and feel the board (feel the contours and the wood) stand1.jpgstand2.jpg
If I coat the board with a lacquer I will lose that raw sanded feel, so I might leave the boards raw. And I'm on the trail of some quality wood.

You could use a wax or oil so that they keep their natural feel but won’t fingerprint up when handled

Now I'm confused!
Do we have an old surfer who loves toymaking?
OR
A toymaker who would have loved to be a surfer?
Great broads,
just now need a "Hotrod Ford"
Ford Vintage Surf Wagon.jpg
or a "Sandman"
Sandman Panelvan.jpg
or a "VW Combi"
VW Combi Surfie Van.jpg
or a "Buggy"
VW Buggy with surfboard.jpg
to rack them up and head for the beach...
Top job sir, Cheers, crowie

No 4 with a cedar stain. For a first time staining attempt I am pleased with the result. (previous pic of no 4 was incorrect, I stained the raw wood)
