New bottle stopper blanks for client
I was asked to make some bottle stopper blanks with natural edge burl at one end and tinted translucent resin at the other end for bottle stoppers and/or gear stick knobs. The molds (50 wide x 150 long x 70 deep) that I use for knife scale blocks would be perfect and just cut in half. These blocks are 40min sq x 145min long trimmed up and sanded just to 80 before giving them a quick coat of oil. They may not look crystal clear but after sanding to at least 600 and a coat of lacquer they will be. I did these in a casting demo day (with other casts) and in my haste used too much dye in some, but no matter, they can be cut into 4 large pen blanks and with white tubes will be fine.

No video mate sorry. I do demos on casting and stabilisation whilst at home on a regular basis on request. I have been casting every other day at the moment, so it's just a matter of coordinating the visitors.
No plans for travel this year mate, apart from the odd weekend away, although I am booked to do a demo in Melb in OctNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
