It certainly was an interesting and informative time at the casting and stabilization demo. I hope we didn't talk too much during the video and drown out the presenters. Lots of things to think about and try out. Thanks guys for sharing the knowledge.

And a big thanks to dai sensei for hosting a great day all round.

Thank you to Neil, John and Tony for the presentation and demonstration yesterday. It was a great day amongst wonderful people. Neil's presentation was very professional with a thousand little tips that you will see on the DVD. There was so much knowledge to take in that I am going to have to sit and watch the DVD just to pick up on what I couldn't take in.

I will try and get the DVD done this week. It will take a while as I have a bit of edting to do to get it into subject order. I am happy to send anyone a copy who wants one but don't forget to PM me with your name and address and I will put you on the list.
I have no idea how to upload anything onto UTube but I am sure we have an IT expert somewhere out there who can do it after Neil picks out the bits and pieces that he wants posted. The full DVD will be well over an hour, probably 2.

Thanks also to Neil and John for fixing my pressure pot.

Sorry I couldn't stay for dinner but I had to get back to Brisbane before it got too late.

Cheers Guys for a fantastic and very informative day.

PS. Greg I will send on some photos of the finished blanks cast yesterday when I pop them out of the molds.

Ok everything is out of the molds/pots. To start off with here are all the mixing cups for all the different colours

Then there are the products, clockwise from top left - silicon molds made by John, 10" long copper braid blank, sheoak seed pod slab with watch part blank below, cholla cactus full blanks in yellow (and some copper as I ran short), pepper grinder blank (I'll have to turn it to see the timber ), flouro green short blanks (pine cone/banksia/cholla - blanks were longer than mold), small flouro green cedar pod slab, dead finish bark blanks (cast in ancient copper and stabilised), flouro orange cedar pod blanks (cast and stabilised).

The sheoak seed pod slab cut into blanks, and the flouro green cedar seed pod slab cut into blanks (yes they are that bright )

Now to turn a few just to show you, back soon

Tony will have to post photos of the resin multi colour blanks.

Just did a quick turn and CA finish of 4 blanks. The flouro orange cedar pod, this was done with glitter and unfortunately a white tube, knew I should have used the orange nail polish. The others are the Dead Finish Bark, flouro green pearlex cedar seed pods (my new favourite ), sheoak seed pod in copper pearlex.

    Wow !!

Those blanks turned out looking absolutely fantastic Neil. Makes mine look pretty ordinary. The blanks that I cast should look nice once turned though, unfortunately no time at the momment but I will be sure to let you all see them once they are.

They all came out really well. The turned blanks look phenomenal. I am waiting to see the colours really come out in Tony's blanks.

The video is half done. Loading it to the computer had to be in real time so that slowed it down a bit - 190 minutes. Don't know how many games of solitaire I got through waiting for that. It's cutting back well with dead time being removed to relieve boredom for viewers and to try and crunch it all onto 1 DVD. All the questions, answers and tips remain.

Looking forward to seeing all the different things turned. I will probably glue up a flouro green Banksia and Cholla cactus tomorrow night maybe. I've laso been thinking of small portions of flouro green/yellow/orange pearlex in a solid black medium slab There is a pen on the IAP site at the moment with just faint gold streaks in black that looks really good to me that gave me the idea to try.

I turned up one of the banksia and one of the cholla today, both in flouro green.

I also did my own resin slab cast with the flouros. It turned out better than I expected, so couldn't resist turning one of the blanks up, just a black chrome Streamline. Just a quick photo on the kitchen bench, sorry about the glare.

I did take a video of the process, so hopefully i can work out how to edit it then i can post it too later.

    Nice one Neil,
Looks like a picture from the Hubble telescope, some strange named nebula (Neilis Uranus)....

I also cast 2 small banksia's yesterday in yellow transparent.
I'll let it have another day to cure before turning him up.

The ones I did with clear in the mould are still soft and gooey, Must have got mix wrong, didn't think so as I used digital scales and used 1.5% catalyst.
It'll go off in a week or three. And must have been on slight angle in the pressure pot as its not level, Think I can save it.
