    Unhappy colouring clear casting resin

    Having made a few pens i thought i would try and make my own blank,i coloured it with enamel model paint but it turned out rubbery,any ideas thanks

    If polyester resin, then you need proper polyester tints, they can be bought from casting stores like barnes or dalchem

    Actually you can use oil paint pigment with PR, just not too much, it only takes a little like any additive.

    What are you using, what catalyst and how much did you add, what temperature etc etc.

    I had been using some white pigment the type used when making surfboards that i bought from a fibreglass shop here in Newcastle and when I used it i believe I used too much and that caused the blanks to have that rubbery feel to it and take what seems like ages to dry and remained rubbery even after completion. I will say i wasn't happy with the look or feel of them at all and have stopped using that process for now.
