GP Polyester Has Gone Rubbery In Tin
Hi There,
Have been getting a project mould ready and when I opened my GP Polyester Tin it has turned rubbery .
Is there any way I can dissolve it to use or is it to be thrown out,I last used some 8 months ago and decanted 500mls into a small airtight tin and left about 200ml in the big tin, when I now checked it the small amount in the big tin is perfect and the 500ml I decanted into an airtight tin with lid is useless.
Any tips or suggestions would be helpful before I have to bin the idea.
Cheers.
Steve

According to my local fiberglass bloke, all polyester resins will 'go off' with time. He is careful to rotate his stock, but even so I got a 4 litre tin of casting resin that had 'gone off' on the shelf, which he quickly replaced.
So yes, chuck the old stuff and either only buy small quantities or just use all you have in one orgy of casting, then finish at your leisure.

It has gone off, nothing to do except chuck it. I always ensure I buy fresh stuff to ensure I get the maximum life out of it.
