    Default precision verticle casting mould

Being the miser that I am I thought I would make a minimal waste verticle mould specifically for my bullet pen blanks. Using electrical conduit with an internal diameter of >18mm and cut to 60mm in length (allowing for a small amount of break out during drilling) each mould takes a little less than 20mls of PR. The plan was not to spend any cash and use only what I could scrounge in the shed. The result is the complicated, precision mould pictured.

Hey there Ian, I have one of those as well and have made several multi colour casts in them. This set up was made specifically to cast 60mm blanks for bullet pens. I have a heap of casings and projectiles & have been inspired by the amazing results that Fred (bigshed) has put out recently that I thought I would give them a go. I probably wont get anywhere near as good as Freds but I wont know till I've tried. I also dislike waste and as I drill my pen blanks on the lathe I thought why not make them a bit thinner as well and the result is 8 blanks using just slightly over 150ml of PR. Freaking awesome I say. Heres some pics of the finished casts.

Hi Trevor those blanks look great but what i would like to do is make the cammo blanks that fred makes and i would save a fortune They are in my opinion the best cammo blanks available by far. I hope to hav a go at making some of them soon but will first have to get the colours right for the cammo. if you work out how to get them right then give me a yell because I am paying fred $7.50 a blank

    Cheers Ian

No no no, nowhere like Freds, I think I made the chips too big, one of the greens is way to bright and I need to swap that for a tan colour, hopefully that will fix it.
    More testing to come.

I have a thought, albeit from a face normally unclouded by thought!!! I have just thought about the perfect shotgun cartridge mould. Give me a PM Trev.
