    Default Pressure Pot question

    Hey guys,

I have a question or two about pressure casting. Have just bought pressure pot and will buy a compressor but am wondering if someone could tell me the names of the additional pieces i need to purchase as im not familiar with them.

Ignoring me having to saw off the paint tube (which should be fun...) here is what i'm thinking for the setup...

Any help anyone could provide would he be really good.
Here is a summary of the questions in the images.

    1) should i just cap the cross shaped regulator on one side (and if so what do i need to buy to do so?) and have the compressor in the other side?

2)then should i cap the other inlet on the lid, and again if so with what?

3)What is the name of the part to divert air inside the pot left and right?

4)do i need the regulator at all, and if not could i just have the gauge in one inlet, and the compressor in the other?
I believe for that to work i may need to have a convertor from the larger threaded bolt attachment to a smaller one. anyone know the name?

Thanks again for your help guys.

The answers to your questions in red on the photos are YES.

    Alternative - NO

3)What is the name of the part to divert air inside the pot left and right? Regulator

Also - take your fittings to the pressure supplier, as I can see at least one you will need, the nut looking one at the bottom of the group. This connects to the regulator with the nut part, and your air compressor will connect to it.

Thanks again for your help guys.
Best do a search, there are quite a few photos of member's set-ups.

Can't do better than advice from dai sensei - lish. If you are in SE Qld go and visit him. Make sure you set up the pot properly so it doesn't go bang

Might be worth taking the lid with you to a plumbing supply shop.
Things might look standard, but there can be differences in thread pitch
and TPI so they might not fit the way you want.

I think the 'diverter' you want is a simple elbow. You just want to be able
to fill the tank without the air flow spraying directly into your resin and
splashing it all over, correct? (been there, done that.. didn't even get a tee shirt)

Thanks a bunch for your help guys. Great advice - bought an air compressor today, and unfortunately they don't seem to have the parts listed in the pdf at bunnings or Mitre 10 that i could find. And plumbing shops aren't open today so it will have to wait till the new year.

Sensei, I'm in melbourne, would be great to find someone who could help as I'm new to this, so may have a look through the forum.

Will see how I go when the plumbing shops open...
    Thanks again!

Just had another thought. I bought all the fittings I needed from Trade Tools. They are in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Also online in case you are in another State or Territory TradeTools - Serious Tools... Seriously Discounted! If you can - take the pressure pot to them to get the right thread and size of the parts you need.
