    Default Rose Sheoak Beads

When I was at my cousins the other day she asked me to make some beads out of sheoak pods. So using some Rose Sheoak pods I scored whilst waiting for at the doctors the other day, I cast up a couple of pen blanks with 5 pods in each. Put them in the pin jaws and turned one up, finishing it between two timber cones I made out of scrap. A couple of coats of thin CA, then a couple more with thick CA, then steel wool before clear boot polish. When I get back I'll show her how to make her own from the cast blank.

Here it is as a proof of concept for her, ~20mm dia. I never get tired of nature's beauty, high lighted with some resin that is .

    Cheers

Wow - that is spectacular and the contrast really sets it off. You can stop making pens now and move into craft supply sales.

Yep no jig for this, just by eye, takes 20 seconds to turn. Finishing takes a bit longer

She makes necklaces with beads and was going to use a single one or three with other smaller bought ones (plastic etc) around it.

Made 16 of these at the Wagga Wagga Turnabout (see https://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/who...6/#post1623944) and made a few into earings - blue and purple pearlex and red pigment
