    Default Transparent dye

    G'Day Folks,

I want a white transparent dye/pigment but cant seem to find one - is it available anywhere or am I missing something ?

I am trying to make a pink blank with the subtle swirl of Mica, but the only white I have found is a solid colour and not what i want !

    Regards,
    Cam

you can get pearlex powders from HERE and they have a white pearl

i use pearlex more often that not when casting colors

although they are not transparent if you put a small amount of powder into the resin it will be translucent, just use a stiring stick to judge the opacity of the resin only adding a small amount each time

Neil or Ian may know of other things

    all the best

If you are after a translucent but still pearlex type white I would go for the Micropearl that just a bit more translucent than the Pearl White. Since you are after just one, or just a few, you can get it from Aus here: http://www.amcsupplies.com.au/index....oducts_id=2376

Just noticed you pen in the main sub-forum you say was done with blue and white mica powder, but from your question here, I assumer you used blue pearlex with white pigment?

    Default Dye's etc

    Fellas,
thanks for your replies so far.
I'll explain a bit better what I am trying to do. I am trying to generate a pink version of the blue pen that you see on the main forum. I bought some white pigment from Barnes to add to my existing red to make the pink colour BUT the white is so incredibly dense that no mica /pearlex powder shows through. The white is not sold as being transparent which is the effect I want, therefore I am looking for a transparent white dye/pigment.
one other thought is can I use such an incredibly small amount of the white that it will be transparent ?

    Regards,
    Cam

p.s Just had a thought as I retread MIK's post. Can I just use the clear resin and white pearlex powder to generate a white blank, perhaps just a tiny drop of red also to give me the pink ?

Pearlex powder also comes in pink, i wouldn't try to make pink when you can buy it ready done, the pealex powder also creates its own swirls, have a look at the pens in the couple of links below, shows the White and the Flamingo Pink Pearlex powders

But having said that, you can buy a pink translucent dye or the red translucent dye from here http://www.amcsupplies.com.au/index....ort=20a&page=2. Mixed with your white pearlex both will make a pink pearlex final product although it will cost you more than buying the pink pearlex
