Video on casting aspects
As some of you will have read in the thread on casting demonstration, (Neil) dai sensei, (John) gawdelpus and (Tony) AusMaDDog were good enough to do a presentation/lecture on Saturday 28/7/12 on:
Stabilising blanks;
Casting blanks;
Mixing colours;
Mould types; and
Mould making.
I was fortunate enough to attend and film the presentations/lectures. I use the term lecture as the presentations were of such a quality and offered so much information that they equated to a post graduate university quality lecture.
The video I made is offered at no profit and at very minimum cost (if any - depending on order numbers) to any member of the forum who is interested in these subjects.
I will make mention that Amos (Woodenink) has, for no personal reward, donated money to the cost of DVD purchases and postage to reduce costs to individual members. So, and this is my idea, if you need laser ingraving done to your blanks, contact Amos and support a member of the forum who supports you.
I am hoping that these videos will be the first in a series on pen making and that Neil will give more lectures over a period of time so we can provide a lot more information to members. It will save so much time with repeated new enquires about the same subjects (something I was guilty of to).
OKAY - THOSE WHO WANT A COPY OF THE FIRST 2 VIDEOS - PM ME WITH YOUR NAME AND POSTAL ADDRESS.
Those who have already done so on the other thread - don't need to do it again.

Last orders being taken. Any order after 5pm on Wednesday 1 August cannot be supplied as it takes so long to prepare the videos that I can't keep opening the file and burning DVDs. You will have to get a copy from another member who ordered one or watch the Utube version. A 2 DVD set will be sent to those who have ordered by the end of the week. At this stage it is cost neutral thanks to Amos and me.

Thanks, your a legend.
How much extra did you get from it watching it while editing.
Just wondering how much people miss the first time.

To be honest I have picked up most by editing the video as I was concentrating on making the video at the time. There are a huge amount of tips on it.

Greg, Amos and those that contributed their time, knowledge and experience a big thank you. The value to those of us in more remote regions who find it difficult to get to these things is huge. It not only benefits those of us on the forum, I had a friend from our little community who knows I have been dabbling in casting call around yesterday. She is doing a community project that requires casting and was looking for some advice so I will be able to share this with her as well as the experience I have picked up. Well done and thank you all. cheers, Des

The DVDs are being burnt at the moment. They should be posted tomorrow. After that I might be off line for a day as the electrician is doing some work tomorrow.
The first of the series (2 DVD) will be provided free to those who ordered before the cut off time. I have run out of DVDs at the moment but will finish off the final orders in a day or two.
Went to Gawdelpus' home today to pick up my pressure pot lid and dai sensei arrived later with a heap of blanks to turn. Unfortunately, I didn't get his email in time so I didn't take my camera for the second in the series Bugger as it would have been a great opportunity to do another video with the Master.
Not to worry as we will get the second in the series done shortly. Hopefully it will be turning acrylic blanks and polishing; and turning timber blanks with CA.
I would also like to do one for the beginners on the forum (Series 3) to run through the basic equipment needed and the more advanced equipment that can then be posted on the forum to save a lot of repeated answers to question.
If anyone has got any ideas on what should be included in other DVDs just post it on here.
FUTURE DVDs
One final thing. The next of the series can't be provided free as it costs a bit to produce them and post them. So at the cost of $1.50 for a DVD box for postage from Aust Post; $1.20 for the stamp; and $1 for the DVD - they will be sent to you at the grand total cost of $3.70 - dual set. That equates to no profit at all and that's the way i am happy to keep it.
Hope you enjoy Series 1.

Did you say it is going up on YouTube... I'm interested in picking up some good potential tips. But it's a bit of a long way for me to attend or for you to send DVDs being in the UK

Chrome, it is no problem sending a DVD to England or anywhere in the world, when you PM the organiser, just PAYPAL an amount to cover postage and a DVD,
Thanks to Neil for opening up his home for this, and to John and Greg and anyone who has put their time into this,(and their resources), It is people like this can make this a great Forum. AmosGood, better, best, never let it rest;
