John, my new live center is supposed to showup today and then I'll spin you up a surprise and get a package in the post. Hard to believe that a year of using an un-hardened live center can leave gouges in it big enough to make your blanks turn out of round.
Not a problem Todd, I have all but completed the pen but using a WOP finish so takes a little time. Should get it in the mail by the end of the week.

Mick, from what I've seen with UPS to Canada when they cross borders they charge you anywhere from $30 to $60 for clearing customs. My advice is stick with USmail. Might be a little slower but much cheaper for the recipient. From experience I've learned if a US company won't ship US mail I don't buy.

So are you saying the best method of shipping for us folks in the US shipping to Australia is US Mail. I certainly wouldn't want my recipient to have to pay a bunch of money to get my package at the end of the swap!

You got it. I've seen guys hit with a $50 brokerage fee by UPS here in Canada for a $20 item I doubt the company is any different any place else. Anything I've had come by mail marked as a gift and valued less than $20 came though customs etc no charge. When you fill out the paperwork make sure it is marked as a gift as well and value it around $15 at the most.

I ship many large boxes to Australia via U.S. Mail and have yet to have a problem. It takes about seven days.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

USPS is the best way to send to Australia from the US not USP

Thanks for the advice. I will follow it as I don't want my new buddy John to have to pay all that cash for a pen made with my mediocre skills .

YIPEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've got mine, but I feel bad!!!

I've done a few pen swaps in the last couple of years and while I love every pen that I have received, this one from Dave Lim ( AKA Timberbits ) is just phenomenal!!!!

When we send pens and stuff to other penmakers, I reckon we each hope that our own pen that we send will be a little better than the one we recieve. Well, I failed miserably on this one.

The fit on this Jr Gent is absolutely perfect and the glass like finish just blows my mind!!!! Add in a beautiful pen box, several blanks and a pen case and you will know why I'm embarassed.

Mr Lim, thank you very, very much!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bldy hell Dave, you've set the bar high on that one. Nice bit of Huon too. Even gone to the hassel of chamfering the edges on some of the blanks... the man thought of everything
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

I got my pen (or should I say pens) from Steven yesterday but didn't have a chance to post the pictures until now.

    That right! I got 2!

Skiprat1 - I think I did well out of this deal too! The Stainless pen is one of a kind. I can jiggle around in my pocket without me being worried about scratching the plating off the surface. The sierra is a wonderful looking pen as well. Thank you very much Steven, it was well worth the wait!

The acrylic pen blanks are also fine specimens. Can't wait to turn them into pens.

Thanks for the kind remarks about my little package. There are defects in them too, but I won't tell you what they are (its a secret between you and me, we won't tell the world about it).

Special thanks to Sam for organizing the event. I think you have 2 happy members here.
