i know this is a pull 2 names out of the hat job BUT
when i read through the list i noticed that everyone so far is happy to send OS so would it be possible to put all the Aussies in one hat and all the OS in another hat to match them off this way, i understand that there are alot more Aussies than OS people so there would be a few local links
is this possible??
what does everyone else think??

That's the way I did it for the last 2 years.
Ron I am sure everyone will accept your legit reason for not being able to complete on time, just talk to your partner.
My only complaint is about the few who signed up, received a pen and then did not complete there end of the swap.
Looks as if we have a good swap on the way keep them coming, still plenty who played last year not signed up.

I was considering just putting all the names into one hat and pulling out ne and matching it with the next name. This way everyone gets and equal chance. There are mostly Aussies in this list so there are going to be a fair number of local swaps regardless. If I put all the Aussies in one hat and the OS's in another, there would not be the same amount. Everyone is willing to go OS. Not everyone is Aussie. The way I am planning is fair in my opinion.
Does anyone have a problem with my method? Please let me know and how it can be made better.

Larry, I don't have a problem with your method, nor I think would anyone else.
But (there is always a but..........)
In my opinion most people joining an International Pen Swap do so in the hope that they get an OS partner. From listening to most US members both this time and the last 2 times, one of the reasons they join in is that they would love to get partnered with an Aussie member.Likewise most Aussies would love to be partnered with an OS member.
Doing it the way you propose to do it, you are going to get a fair number of American members partnered with each other, likewise a fair number of Aussies partnered with each other.
Doing it the way Sam did it for the last 2 years IMHO will give a better result for a larger number of people.
Or, you can put up a poll and ask the members to give their opinion.

I'm pretty easy going about it, but as big shed said it would be nice to have an OS partner. If the numbers just don't stack up, then I'm happy enough with local.
I've got some american wood I can use anyway

I'm also in favour of an Aussie hat and international hat. If you don't have enough names in the Aussie hat then put my name in twice and I will do two pens. I (and a few others) did two pens for the last Australia Day pen swap
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Of the 61 people on the list at this time, 7 are USA, 5 are Canada. 1 is Norway. The rest are all Aussie. I will of course want to pair the non-Aussie up with one Aussie member, but the remainder would end up being local. Just the way it is rolling out at the moment. I keep sending out messages in hopes of getting more members who are non-Aussie to join in, but so far this is what I have. I will go onto IAP and PTP and post some new PM's to try and get more out of Australia people.
Anyone interested in helping with this I would greatly appreciate the effort. If you have any pother ideas to generate more players, please let me know.
As for the draw, I will try to make it OS with as many people as I can.
New vote.
Please let me know if anyone would like to do more than one partner OS.
