I've had a little package turn up in today's mail.
A beautiful closed end sedona in an golden bronze resin, accompanied by an equally beautiful closed end mach 3 razor in the same resin. Plus I received an Egyptian soapstone blank, a Canadian money blank and 3 spalted pecan blanks.
I'll have photos up as soon as I can. I'm definitely the winner in both of my swaps this year, I've received some amazing creations.
Thanks to both Sawdust Maker (Nick) and Whaler1 (Dick) for making this years swap a very memorable one.Last edited by Reece; 28th March 2011 at 10:18 PM. Reason: incorrect resin name

Lucky Me.
My parcel from Seamus 7227 has arrived. I have been so lucky with my swap partners. In the package was a beautiful Sierra crafted from Mesquite Burl. Some other goodies arrived too - blanks of mesquite burl, apple, english walnut, spalted magnolia and a white timber, the name of which I cannot read. Thank you Seamus.
Cheers,
Shirley

One of Reece's own acrylic creations
I've tried to capture the quilting effect, which I've done - but it doesn't quit capture the depth and luminence.
Thanks Reece, one great pen and a few blanksregards

Our Swap's Complete
Here are a few pics of my swap with David.A beautiful SHE-Oak Fountain pen....Need to learn how to take a better photo. The grain is a lot more impressive in person. Once again a good swap....Thanks David
Took pictures of wrong box of blanks...Will redo tommorrow..
Got the right pictures tonight....God thing I wasn't in the shop...probably would have turned a "Penless Kit"Last edited by Mr Vic; 30th March 2011 at 03:36 PM. Reason: Attached wrong photos...

Here is the pen and blanks I received from Mr Vic for our pen swap
A platinum premier Cigar.Technically it's not wood, it's from the base of the trunk of a Cholla Cactus. The Cholla pens Mr Vic said he had seen are made from skeleton of the upper limbs and either cast in resin or the holes are filled with contrasting substance. At the base the holes have grown together but have trapped the skin and other substances that cause the black coloration.
he had to use a lot of CA to keep it from exploding and he said it was a fun
challenge in making it
Above is Mr Vic's explanation on how he made the pen.great pen with an excellent finish, thanks very much, and thanks to all the people that organize
the pen swap.I have been involved in all that have been held and enjoyed every one.
Regards
David

Just like Xmas
It came today a well packed parcel, with baited beathe I drove well over the speed limit to home to carefully open the box.
What a beatuful sight to behold
A beautiful X-cut Claro Walnut followed by a X-cut zebra and next a loverly spalted maple and the prize of all prizes a Amboyna Burl (something I have oftem admired on pens made by others but never before seen in real life)
Then the well made pen case was opened it revealed a pen like no other I have held in my hands before A Sierra wrapped in a coat of Oak Burl with a Blue Pearl to fill in the voids
I have often wonder about these types of blanks now perhaps it time to attemped something like it myself.
