The wood blanks are Box Elder Burl, a Black Locust Burl and 2 Curly Western Maples.
The pen is just gorgeous. I have not owned a fountain pen for many years, and certainly never one as luxurious as this. Thanks Pete and Marla.

A few days ago I received my swap package from Jennifer (aka Touchwood)!!

OMG nobody calls me Jennifer except my Mum (and then I know I'm in trouble!!!)

I'm glad you liked you package and posted a pic as I didn't get around to taking one before it left. If there is something there that you'd like some more of, let me know and I'll send some more. I was disappointed as I had to remove some bits as it was going over the magic weight before paying the surcharge, I'd prefer to send two smaller packs that pay a surcharge!!!

I received a swap box from Reece yesterday. Included was a Jr Gent II beautifully wrapped in Cooktown Ironwood. The box also included some very nice blanks which I have never turned.

got my parcel from IOWA YANK today was shocked at the size of the box
it contained 3 pens 1 acrylic with a kit i haven't seen before and a slimline and a presidental am awaiting a reply to tell me the timbers on the pens

and i got a really nice batch of blanks and BLOCKS

i ended up with some cocobolo ,western red cedar (aromatic ) a nice piece of quilted maple ,okoume, sterculia,sucupira,corian ,antler and a nice piece of colour wood a couple of black walnut pen blanks

and to suprise me the was also 2 big blocks of osage orange and a few big blocks of black walnut including from the crotch of the tree and a great piece of russian olive

that marbled walnut just screams for a penetrating oil finish. I'll bet it lights up like Xmas..

I too got a rather hefty package from Arlin. I received four pens and a nice pile of wood and moose antler. Some of the woods are unknown to me and will be used to make some interesting pens soon. Other such as the walnut, maple, and cedar are known but excellent specimens I look forward to using. The Osage Orange blocks were a very nice surprise. I haven't had the chance to turn this yet but look forward to doing so.

I sent him a rather large box with ten pens and a large assortment of different blanks. Unfortunately, I did not take pics first...DOH! Hopefully he will find his camera and be able to take some for us.

I have been remiss, I received my pen from aussiepens Me feeble little mind has drawn a blank on what the timber is, but it is gorgeous, the chatoyance of the wood reminds me somewhat of a super curly Koa, but I'm not sure, Also in the parcel were some great blanks including a couple pieces of Gidgee I hope I spelled it right, it's a timber I've wanted for some time. here are some links to pics of the wonderful pen John sent, Thanks John

I have received my packages from mkypenturner (Troy) and Don Nicholes in the last 2 days. I am still layed up in bed and have not been able to look into the packages yet.
I want to tell everyone that volunteered to swap pens this year thank you.
As soon as I can I will be making at least one for everyone on this forum is it is up to 200 or so.
I have had a happy experience with this years swapees and have received outstanding pens

it looks like either blackwood or maybe mackay cedar like the stuff i sent you in that swap of timber last year
and oh bugger i thought i had put some gidgee in with your blanks in that trade
going to have to use your woodchuck tool for turning it

Here are the items I received from Nathan yesterday. One of my favorite kits, the Sedona in Bendee, and Australia native wood. It is a two tone blank that is just awesome. He did a great job. I hope my photos do the pen justice. I also got an assortment of blanks from the area and will put them to good use.

The last one is labelled as zebrawood - anyone have an idea what it is 'cause it doesnt look like other zebra wood I've seen and got.

It was John's first ever penswap - hope he likes my pen as much as I like his.

Nice pen and wood, I think you will find the pen is a "cigar" style , the blank in question may be "Zebrano" different places different names hehe, cheers ~ John

NIck, if it's not zebrawood, I'll bet on marblewood. It has wider streaks than zebra, the color and grain looks more like it, too! This wood is prone to tear out unless you use sharp tools and light cuts. Don't try turning cross cut or end grain...blowouts. Nice pen and knot, too. good trade.
