Got the best of this deal eh!
Jack Tar mailed a box of goodies on Friday Mar. 2 and miraculously it arrived today, Mar 9 in central Canada. Got to be some kind of record.
Anyway this box contained some wondrous stuff. First there was a great looking gift box and two mementos of the Australian Navy, a Key Ring and a Medallion.
When I opened the gift box I found the central theme of the whole package. Two great pens!
First Anthony has paid tribute to the Canadian Colours with a beautiful Chrome Cigar in brilliant pearl and white acrylics.
Second was the masterpiece. An Elegant Beauty (I think) with kangaroo motif and segmented barrel. I really like the natural feel of the finish and the texture Anthony achieved on this pen.
Absolutely great work Anthony! Don't change anything.
In the bottom of the mailer was a couple small bags of native wood blanks. I had explained to Anthony that I was getting away from the acrylics and experimenting with natural or minimum finishes on wood.
#1 and 2 are Tasmanian Myrtle Burl
#3 is Burl Coolabah (number or great figure not showing in photo)
#4 is Spalted Sassafras
#5 Hairy Oak (very striking)
#6 Camphor Laurel
#7 and 8 are Huon Pine
#9 ?
As if all this was not enough, Anthony included an Australia game for me to learn (and bilk the locals). TWO UP
A very generous package filled with wonders from a distant land. Thank you Anthony, I couldn't be more pleased. The pens will have an honoured spot in my growing collection. It has been a pleasure and I hope you like your forthcoming (it's in the mail - honest - it is eh) as much.
Carry on.

I received a beautiful pen yesterday from MSGMP - WOW I love it!
Attachment 200987
Attachment 200988
I am unable to name the kit used but it is lovely - the pen is made from Logwood Burl and aluminum accents.
There were also 4 blanks included - Figured Crotch Walnut, Jack Daniel's Whiskey Barrel, Bolivian Rosewood and Padauk. I am going to enjoy making those up (but as the temp is up around 35ºC again .. even more in the shed) it won't be in the next couple of days!!!!)
Thank you so much MSGMP - I hope my parcel doesn't take too long to reach you.

Pen from Firefighter Sam
I received this excellent writing instrument from Andrew (Firefighter Sam) As you can see the fit and finish is spot on. I believe it is a Statesman II FP, complete with a cartridge, and converter. Also a beautiful selection of timber blanks. It is always a pleasure to participate in the Australia Day pen swap, as I always receive nice things like these.
Thanks Andrew!Charles T. Hutchings

My pen from JustTurnin
Just in from JustTurnin just superb, blown away, absolutely stunning, He has the poor end of the stick, I win out, Amos
Following explanation by Chris
The kit is a Big Ben Rollerball and the wood is Texas Water Oak Burl with the Wormy holes filled with Black Epoxy and copper shavings. The finish is CA, a lot of CA. I don't count the coats I measure the thickness which is .15mm thick after finish sanding.
This was the first pen off my new lathe and my first pen to turn between centers instead of a mandrel.
There is one blank in there that is a surprise. It is the Solid black one. There is a 'gator jaw bone in there. Make sure you use sharp tools on that one and sharpen often. After turning my 1st gator jaw I bought a carbide tool. Also there is a Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel blank in there that goes with the Certificate of Authenticity, I hope you saw that and did not trash it ) It was wrapped in some plain white paper, I need to invest in some bubble wrap....

Oh no !!!!
Amos will be stuck in the shed for weeks with
that haul. Can't wait to see what he does with them.
Pen swaps certainly attract a lot of interest.
Mine were sent a few days ago to "Quister" in U.S.A.
and will await his in due course. Photos to follow.

I've just received my parcel from GeoffW89. An absolutely beautiful fountain pen which I think may be Red Mallee burl but I'm waiting for Geoff to confirm. It is an absolutely perfect fir and finish and will be a treasured pen in my collection (and my first fountain pen since school days - now that's going back!!).
There are some very nice blanks to go with it. Photos will come sometime on the weekend.
