Someone had to be first.
Okay so don't all rush in, and post. So I guess that leaves me as first up.
Oh well!! I tried to use all the bits that Dazzler sent, and used up the 4 tiny bits for the bands. Learnt heaps along the way. Made even more mistakes along the way, but enjoyed the learning curve.
EDIT: Thanks to all involved.Chris

My pens
Well here are my efforts.
I was planing on using the myrtle pieces as end caps but they split while i was drilling them:mad:
The onw with the small rings of sassy i will keep because it has a few imperfections you may be a ble to see the small crack...
I used a makita drop saw to cut the angles(11.25o).
Any way it was a fun project and i had fun doing my first segmented pens..
CheersCheers Dy.|a.n.....
If it dont fit... get a bigger hammer!!

Ok here are mine .... fresh off the lathe tonight Nothing like leaving it to the last minute.
Fortunate enough to get 2 from 2.
Great contrast in timber, I usually don't like the Huon for pens but teamed with the Sassafras it comes up a treat.
Great theme as well, I have never really tried segmented turning ..... and I need some practise.
Look forward to seeing some more efforts ..... ohh

Yep .... cut up on the old GMC scrollsaw.
Simply stack the two blanks on top of one another with some double sided tape and then cut a wave design. The obviously swap the two blanks and glue.
I experimented with some other blanks before trying these two blanks. This included the above method, and then doing it again to get four alternative colours. The two worked the best.
Something that I will be experimenting again with in the future. Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

Hi,
just new to this forum stuff, but would love to be involved with the pen turning idea. Can new chums join in?
Love the wave design - my pens tend to be less spectacular than that!
