Skew, other ways of redecorating include just taking items out of a room and putting new ones in!!! Sorry, jokes aside, sorry to hear about you fire - one thing we live in constant fear and dread of in amongst our bush over here. We even have our own fire unit (600L) standing by.
Like the way you split the casing.
dai sensei - like yours as a chrome kit - I too rubbed back to brass, not having any chrome kits .......yet
I have made the bullet pen, others tomorrow I hope - 40 C in the shed today - lost a few kg's in perspiration .

I am going to post my pics now also. We have visitors for the next week and they will be staying where my puter is so access will be limited.
I made the bullet pen with a slimline as suggested. I quite like the contrast with the silver and gold colour. The wood is some jarrah I had. I wanted a darker timber to contrast withe the light bullet. I work with a lady that does large bore shooting as a sport. I will ask her if she has some used shells and try to make some more of these. I quite like the effect.
The redwood burl is just a simple pen. It is pretty soft stuff compared to our hardwoods but it came up OK.
i haven't done anything with the horn yet. My piece is slightly short for slimlines or the click pens. As I have no other kits at present this is my only choice. I'm not sure about laminating it. Is the possible and if so any suggestions?Terry B

They look good Terry, you certainly got some great grain going in the burl.
I can't see any reason why you couldn't laminate the antler. I would trust anything but epoxy for the glue up, and I'd probably go for a really hard timber to try and match the density of the bone, to avoid sanding problems.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

I have laminated with it and have had no difficulties with it. Sorry I did not realise it was bit short. Perhaps that was one of the muddle up. I had them all paired up ready to wrap when a someone had to fiddle could not just leave things alone

Pen swap
Hi all,
I'm a newbie, but like sawdustsniffer, I have some pen kits on the way and would like to join you making pens during 2007. How do I sign up?
Regards
Humber

I have the timber, but I can't cover the postage. Not this month, anyway.
With recent events I'm paddling furiously just to stay where I am:...
