    Toni ....

    You know you love it

ps .. scanned this from a previous Aus Woodworker ... Is this the pinnicle of pen turning obsesiveness ???? Is this what we all are destined to become??

(hmmm .. maybe one that big, segmented with a core would be cool . . .)

Ok, I'll put mine up - but just to let you know, I didn't manage diamonds (though now I recon I could) but as I had never done any segmented work until I saw the July pens (and now there a nearly a dozen 'have a goes') and got inspired.

I did get muli coloured, despite the fact that the purple heart had a crack somewhere in it and every pen I turned it came apart at the same point. Luckily it wasn't deep enough to show the tube, but often it was deeper than my finishing diameter - out with the 'poxy resin!

I still have enough PH and Pist to make one more pen like the third one - with the woody pear. This one came about as I cut the segements wrong on my 3rd set. I was trying to make the pattern repeat after 3 layers, not two, but cut the 3rd one wrong side up and the segments wouln't line up correctly.

    So here they are:

    two for August

    Attachment 29649

    with woody pear

    Attachment 29650
    all three.

There have been some very noce entries - sorry I didn't quite get the diamond bit

Hmmm... I think I'm going to throw my camera in the bit bucket and send all my pens to Jenny to photo.

Nice pens, too. The theme was "Harlequin" not diamonds... they just sorta got dragged into it becuase of the reference I posted, I think. It was more the patchwork effect I was thinking of when I thought of the theme and as far as I'm concerned everybody has managed to do a great job of that!

    Even my frankenpens, apparently.

HI Guys, I have a question for you. I am on the the pen shop board too and I have a question do you object to some one printing out your photos for a class. To show what your mind can do when allowed to wander in pen turning. Any objections?
    bye
    Toni

    PS THis is his post
I have been asked to teach a class at Woodcraft on segmented blank design and such. Does anyone care if I print out pic of these and just show examples of what can be accomplished if the mind wanders.
