Well i must admit my guilt and say i have been slack in doing my pen for the swap but i have got the pen away several weeks ago now and have just done a search to check where the parcel is and found a note was left for him on the 17th may but it appears he has not picked it up yet. I have not heard from my swap partner for a little while but i did get told by him in our last correspondence that he was comming into his busy time and that he hoped to get it done soon. i am not concerned at all about this as i understand how busy people can be and i too had been slow in getting my pen and blanks away.
i do hope that I hear from him soon and i am sure that will happen.

    Cheers Ian

Firstly I must apologise. I have had so many projects on of late along with so much OS and interstate travel that I have really been dragging the chain with completing this swap. I made both my swap partners pens sometime ago but still had something else to make and finish along with putting a few other bits and pieces together to complete my swap.
The good news is I am now ready to complete my swap with my local swap partner Beedeejay and my USA partner Sumterdad.
I have Pm'ed and emailed both for their postal address's and hope to get things underway as soon as I have their reply.
Just wanted to post update here too.

    Cheers
    Tony.

Default AUS Day Pen Swap 2013 BeedeeJay

    Hi all,

Woohoo!! Ben and I finally managed to catch up having a good old chat for a couple of hours or was it 3 Somewhere in amongst our chat we took some time out to complete our swaps

The pen that Ben has made is a Jnr Gent in chrome wrapped in a nice piece of burl with a little touch of sap wood and finished with a nice glassy like finish which is just the way I like them.
A nice selection of different timber species was also gifted and I am already looking forward to trying some of them out

Great to catch up Ben and thanks very much !!

    Cheers
    Tony.

Yeah I think it was a few hours but it only seemed like 5 minutes

It has taken us some time to complete the swap but we were always in contact and both of us had been quite busy, I'm sure we could have put them in the post but being able to meet up and have a good chat was one of the reasons these swaps are a great idea and was well worth the wait!

I was very lucky with what I recieved from Tony, but I won't be able to take or upload pictures until at least Monday or Tuesday, so I will keep you in suspense until then

Thanks Tony for a great swap and an enjoyable afternoon

    cheers Ben

    Hi Ben,

Here is a couple of photos I took before we added a couple of additional blanks ) so please do continue to post your photos when you get a chance next week

The pen is a Pristina in Rhodium with Gold Titanium accents and is dressed in Hairy Oak (allocasuarina inophloia) which I had re-sawn from a log I bought at the Brisbane working with wood show a couple of years ago. The pen case is one that I made again from some highly figured Flindersia spp. (F. brayleyana) QLD Maple. The handle of the case is Ebony not sure which one though and the insert is made using shaped foam to hold the pen and is covered in black felt.

The castings are all my castings left to right is a transparent red with some solid and pearlex colouring to one end, the next is a multi colour mix of a firey look, and the other is a mix of green and fluro green with she oak pods. Ben will be able to explain the others he was given as part of our swap. The timber blanks are from various sources, White Cedar, Aromatic Cedar and a lovely coloured piece of NG Rosewood burl with Birdseye throughout.
Glad to have been your swap partner Ben, and as I said if you are ever around this neck of the woods again be sure to drop in and say Gid-day
That's if I am not traveling

    Cheers
    Tony.

Default Finaly I can post some more pics!

    Hi All,
As you have probably already seen Tony & I completed our swap a few weeks ago,
Tony posted some pics of what was in his original bag of goodies for me, but as we were talking and looking around his awesome shed he was kind enough to throw in a few extra pieces,

This is what was originally given in our swap,
    IMGP3345.jpgIMGP3350.jpgIMGP3352.jpgIMGP3357.jpgIMGP3355.jpg

And after Tony found out that Hairy Oak (which my Beautiful Pristina he gave me is wrapped in) is one of my favorite timbers he said he might just have a few extra blanks out in his shed, which he did he also found a couple of bits of Red Cedar to give me as well,
    IMGP3347.jpg

Then came his home cast blanks,
I received the 3 originally but as he was showing me all his casting gear he picked out a couple of extras to give me as well
    IMGP3351.jpg

Now the only problem is I will have to work out which type of Kits to put them on, decisions decisions

All the great items I left with
    IMGP3353.jpgIMGP3360.jpg

    Thank you again Tony,
it was well worth the wait to meet to receive a great gift and to also make a new friend and I look forward to when we can catch up again,

I would also like to thank the organisers and my other Swap partner JOhn (WalshJP17) for a great experience and i look forward to the next one

    Cheers Ben
