Default Men's Shed Scroungers at it again

We got a notice from WAMSA about free flooring during the week so a few of use went out to investigate.

Short story was a small flooring business was closing down and the owner had dozens of packs of various sizes he had been trying to sell but having no buyers he decided to give them away to mens sheds.

We immediately put our names on 2 of the packs with the longest boards, from 600 mm up to 3.8m long, x 90 wide, 14 to 10 mm thick flooring.
Timbers included Jarrah, Marri, Blackbutt, and WA Blackbutt.
The flooring is premium grade, some of the Marri is curly and will make beautiful panels for furniture.

We went back this morning to pick up with 3 trailers and my Van.
Loading onto the trailers was easy using slings and his forklift.
After loading the two packs we still had a bit of space on two of the trailers so the owner bought our a pack of Spotted gum shorts so we grabbed that.

Then the owner brought out a pallet load of quality 6 ply large offcuts including a half a dozen full size sheets with minor marks on them which we shoehorned into my van.

All up there would have been close to 3 cubic metres of material.

Just to round things off in the factory unit next door I stickybeaked in their tall scrap bin and saw hundreds of brass and SS plumbing and compression fittings buried in amongst great piles of razor sharp swarf. Some fittings were even still in their original plastic bags and some were Swagelock (high quality) brand. I got half a plastic bucket worth before the swarf started to cut up my hands. Would have loved to pull out all the swarf but it was a tangled mess and it would have been too hard.

One of the members did take some photos and I will see if I can get hold of them and post a couple here.

Couldn't have gone to a more worthy cause. Better than going for firewood.

    Great to hear!

I need to start keeping an eye out for some timber, it's probably going to be about 6 months before my shop is up and running but I want to get some stuff drying in the meantime.

Should I just keep an eye on Gumtree or are there other places I should be scoping out?
