1943 Bench Plans - Bench Hook and Ideal Bench
Hi all,
In addition to my series in the toy forum, I plan to post a series of historical bench plans (I need a bench).
The first is from 1943 late in WWII, billed as "the finest type of bench ever evolved".
As a bonus, plans for a bench hook with mitre block and vice are included.
Let me know whether I should continue the series.
Cheers,
Chris.Last edited by chrrris; 2nd May 2014 at 03:08 PM. Reason: Removed first page from PDF.

Sorry!
I scan the pages in as double page spreads, then split and resize them and put them into a PDF. I don't remove the spurious pages in between, usually.
The first page happens to be the last page of a beehive build - included just to confuse you!
Cheers,
Chris.

Hi all,
I've now removed the beehive page from the PDF, to save confusing others.
Regards,
Chris.

The bench plan is a bit late for me as I just built one a year ago. I do like the large bench hook and vice and can see one of those being very handy to take to away jobs. That and a bag of tools and you are almost set up for woodworking on the run.
Regards
John

Keep the posts coming!! I enjoy the fact that ideas can be gleaned and I love the language of the texts.
I also find the illustrations interesting. When I did man. arts at high school that was the type of illustration
we were supplied with.
