hey we all have brain fades (or senior moments)

    your design
I still think the intermediate posts are too thick and hence complex to attach to the top and bottom rails.
In terms of supporting drawer runners, the runners will be attached to 19mm boards on edge running across the bench. The posts holding these boards really only need to be about 25mm thick and could be attached to the rails with skew nails.
I'll try and attach a drawing showing what I mean

    Please see attached drawing
if skew nailing the upright is a bit too agricultural, a dado about 20mm deep, stopped about 20mm from the face would substitute

I understand where your comming from, but the reason for the bridal joint is to "cover up" the fact that the face pieces are short. The pieces are 76 deep to match the thickness of the stretcher and 57 wide, which gives me 19 eaither side and 19 in the middle. Overbuilt I know, but again I'm designing around the material I've got to work with. I should point out that previous pic shows the intermediates at 76 wide. I narrowed them to 56 after I posted it. makes the middle drawers wides also which is good

I've actually just bought a kreg R3 so I could play with it instead of skew nails

I was thinking about dovetailing the slots and tapering the drawer runner supports to make a mechanical lock aswell as the glue, or maybe not even glueing them. I can laminate 3 thicknesses cut the slots and then add the face thickness creating stopped slots with nice square corners.

Wood's expansion is a mystery to me. I know it moves more across than along the grain, but I have no feel for it. I'm using tongue and groove for some bits so several mm clearance can be left so it doesn't tear itself apart.

Your drawing is perfectly clear by the way.

I need to think about dowel diameter now.

Again thank you for the comments.
