Alby's New Workbench
As many of you would know when I first joined this forum I gave away my workbench. Since then the new one has been built. I purchased a book "Making Workbenches" by Sam Allen. In this book he shows you how to build a Jointer's workbench and a Scandinavian Carpenter's workbench.
As my work varies from guitars, woodturning, furniture making, welding and fibreglassing I decided upon the Jointer's workbench, which is serving my needs quite well. Like all good workers I made subtle changes to it to suit my needs.
For the end/tail vices I used 2 single screw face vices and the front vice is a Groz 9 1/4" Quick release vice.
For the edging I used 20mm thick jarrah which is bolted on to make replacing them when needed easier.
The workbench isn't quitefinished yet as I still have to build the board jack for supporting long work clamped in the face vice. To make the workbench easier to move around the shed removeable wheels are yet to be built.
For the finish I used danish oil, and over time whenever items are finished with danish oil extra coats will be applied then.
Ater the board jack and wheels are made I'll post those details then.
Cheers for now Alby
