My shop is on the lower level. As you say = cool in the summer and comfortable when it's -20C outside in a mountain snowstorm.
For power to the island bench, I bought a steel quad powerpoint box and some wire and made it up. All four tools are plugged in but I could care less as I can only use one at a time, anyway. Otherwise, a power bar on the main work bench seem to keep all the lights on. . . . . I run 3 when I'm carving, 2 in front and one up and behind me to kill the shadows.

One problem with basements is fumes, especially those that are heavier than air. Do you have an form of ventilation, existing or planned?

Nothing planned other than a dust deputy for the moment. I don't plan on being here for much more than a few months and I don't anticipate doing any huge projects here. Currently house hunting and as some of you know, it could take a couple of weeks to find a house but more likely it will take upwards of 6 months.

Yep, and finding one that has a 100' X 100' shed with a 10 foot high ceiling is even harder.

    Asked in ignorance.
Is there a reason I never see anybody put shelves on the walls for storing/stacking things?
Does everything need to be packed away in Steinway piano=quality, hermetically sealed cases? Or is the packing case the project?

I make my own wooden shelf brackets, 4 dozen at a time. They cost $0.27 each. Ripped up 1/2" plywood for the shelf. All I learned was that I didn't make half enough.

For me it was originally stand alone shelving. With plastic tubs to put things in to keep the dust off the items. I am trying to more toward cabinets to keep things out of the way and away from dust.

For me it's a mix of the above and also didn't want to drill in to the walls since it is a temporary shop. Otherwise I would seriously consider wall mounted shelving.

I don't buy the magazine you'll have to scan a photo and post it here or maybe take a new one cause I can't recall a clean shed photo yet of yours.
