If you check out the picture of the scale above, you can see the basics. There's also the timber mock-up of the cam mechanism and lever earlier. Edit: riverbuilder got in between me opening the thread and replying whoops

After several hundred requests, I’ve done a quick walk-around video of the bench and how it was built. Here’s the YouTube link: YouTube

Mate! That bench is a cracker!
Those leg stands are fantastic - it would do for a manufacturer to make such things.... (For those not metalwork enabled, or inept, or simply lazy!)
The sloped tool shelves are excellent as is the lower shelf. The slats are very nice indeed.
I'll definitely be stealing a few ideas from this

Just watched the video. Talk about location, location, location as the realestate people would say. Most impressed with the bench and the house you are building. I reckon it would be worth a few dollars!

Hey Riverbuilder
As everyone has said that is a cracker of a workbench
Got me thinking about your location, how do you go with authorities for their staged inspections? Do you just pick them up at the boat ramp or?
Also I imagine they are plenty of hoops to jump for effluent treatment systems, do you use an enviro cycle type system or what?
I don’t know where I got the idea but I assumed you were a shipwright doing boat work down there

Yes there are plenty of hoops, in fact some clients who have built could easily be mistaken for circus performers after they have finally got approval. All the homes are on septic systems, there’s a few different types, most keep the solids in a tank to be broken down by worms and liquids get pumped up the hill at the back to absorbtion trenches, or on the rockier steep blocks, it is chlorine processed and sprayed around, to transpire into the atmosphere. The environmental issues are s big part of the approval process, as well as geotechnical engineering (there’s a couple of places that have been destroyed by rockslides) and also things like flora and fauna consultants, sunlight shadowing consultants, and of course Aboriginal heritage inspections.
I have been building stuff here for 22 years. Solving logistical problems every day, everything being boat access and hand work and all.
