Thanks for the encouragement guys, and I'm doing the best I can, but even though I'm having my daily battles with the Black Dog, I can't let it win, because my friend needs me to be strong for him even more.

Back from the depths.
Hello to all my fellow Woodworking Forum friends.
I apologise deeply for being away from our great Forum and its wonderful members for so long, but without going into a long winded detail for my absence, I will just say that I have been having a long desperate battle within my own mind (and body) about which I'm sure you are more than aware by now.
I just looked at the date of my last post and realised just how long it has been since I last visited my friends here. Even more troubling is that since that date, I have barely set foot inside my shed, much less even turned on a single machine.
There has just been too much going on in my life since then that, try as I may, I just can't make that initial move.
Besides battling my own psychological demons, I am also facing the end of my 38 year marriage.
Every night as I read and re-read my woodworking magazines, I try to gather the incentive to return to my beloved shed and get back amongst the smell of the timber and ever present sawdust that lingers at every turn. Unfortunately, to date I have failed. Now that this year comes to a close and Christmas (with its own particular tensions for me and others in my family) has passed, I can only hope that this new year will be the beginning of a turn around for me and the beginning of a new phase in my life. One that will see me leave the despair of this past year behind me and a return to a life of relative happiness and enjoyment of the hobby that used to give me so much pleasure, plus the constant exchange of views and events with my Forum friends. It is this contact with you, my on line "family", that I have missed the most during my self imposed exile.
I wish you all a Happy and Fulfilling New Year and I look forward to once again exchanging our views and achievements.
Kindest Regards,
Bob

Gday Bob,
Great to see you with us again. I can well relate to yiur sentiments about 'this online family'. I often feel the same
Too I know the struggle to get to where you want, especially when it is with the tools.
I am having my Australia Day weekend get together if that happens to fit within your possibilities.
What ever happens I hope you're in for a much better year

In your own time Bob. I promise you - the best way to regain motivation is to set a date for some chaps to come over. Even if they are coming to do a bit of a working bee (which is great fun for all) it will catalyse you to get yourself into gear before they arrive, and before you know it things are shipshape.

Sometimes it can be a little daunting from what life gives us. Everything is done one step(task) at a time and when you complete that task it really does not seem as hard or complicated as it was in the beginning.

I'm back.....I think.
Hello Everyone,
I'm sorry for being out of touch for so long, but I guess I don't really need to tell you why.
Firstly I want to thank those of you who have been taking the time to send me private messages and emails to check up on my progress and well being. You have no idea how much of a lift it is for me to receive those messages of support and kindness.
While I've yet to get right back into making sawdust again on a regular basis, I've been given small tasks to do for my family and have tried to make the most of this encouraging prompting.
I'm still doing it a bit hard by trying to deal with this loneliness and isolation, but with the support of a group of Facebook friends who are fellow sufferers and the prompting of my Forum friends, I'm doing better these days.
So this is where I'm at right now, but with the continued support of my family and friends as well as a bloody big effort on my part, I'll give it my best shot to get back into my shed again and start to show some progress and try to become an active member of this great Forum once more.
Thank you everyone,
Bob
