    Hi guys,

I know it's almost two years since the last post.

I'm about to start on the Paulk Total Station.

And getting all my notes together for my modifications.

Someone mentioned mods to fit the Triton Workstation.
Just wondering if any solution was found?
Hoping any mods is for the 2000 and not the previous MK versions.

I've got the triton 2000 router table and top that I'm hoping to fit as well.

Also the PTS is 900 wide instead of 1200.
Was wondering if anyone thought 900 would be a better option?

And anything you'd change after almost 2 years?

Well done and Thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Barry G. Sumpter

mines still going well except for the base had to change to 17mm ply as the 12mm developed quite a bowyang and started delaminating. I should have taken a little more care on drilling the dog holes as I got one line slightly off square but other than that it's certainly has handled the wear and tear well. I will probably build the workstation in the next six months or so as I'm moving to my new shed in May and have extra space. I'm currently using the kapex mobile trolley and with heavier timbers there's a little bit too much play so the PWS should work nicely.

Did anyone build the base like Jay Bates and Earl Davidson?

Jay built his base with a T shape once the Torsion box was mounted.

Earl built his base with an I shape once the Torsion box was mounted.

Just trying to figure out how much smaller Jay's and Earl's base is?

6" smaller all round? or 12" all round? or 6" narrower and 12" shallower?

I don't want to waste any potential storage space under the box.

The castors keep the base off the ground 130mm - over 5 inches which my boots, broom and 4" vacuum hose fit under without issue.
Would there be a reason for the base to be smaller then the 4' x 8' ?

I'd like to keep the option open to fit drawers into the base.

Would it be for knee clearance?

    anyone?
    Thanks,

I'm thinking power board mounted on any side.
4" /100mm for clearance and another 2" /50mm to be safe from anything getting caught.
Totalling 6" / 150mm smaller on all sides

    2" / 50mm for clamping?
not sure if I'll need to clamp to the bottom of the box right in front of a power board?
    maybe to store my clamps.
But as Jay says the box is for holding current project tools and not for storage.

Totalling 8" / 200mm smaller on all sides.

Played it safe and just cut size to 2000mm x 800mm from the 2440mm x 1220mm.
which is 4" / 100mm (rounded down) smaller on all sides.
I can unscrew and reduce further later if need be.
As I didn't see anyone gluing.

I've just snuck out and had a quick look at my framing work so far.
Really disappointed in the 2x4s not lining up properly.
All we had was a 15 year old picnic table that I could work on.
I thought I could get away with it not being perfectly flat.
I clamped all the joints and predrilled all the holes and squared with a builders/roofers square.
But some of the joins are now showing 1 to 5mm out.
i.e. the joins are square but the 90mm sides are off.
    Grrrrrrr.
I'm thinking even though I picked the best lengths from the timber yard,
some slight bowing and twisting might be the reason.

Like someone already posted I needed this worktable to build this worktable.

    Blast! 20/20 hindsight.
Just had a thought I could have places two of the 2440 x 1220 x 12mm plys on top of the picnic table for a large work area.
Guess I could do this and unscrew everything and clamp and screw all over again.

Perhaps I'm reading too much into this?

And another closer look feels like 1mm on some of the top side joins and some of the bottom side joins feels like 5mm.

    And another 20/20 hindsight.
I've got the Kreg K5 sitting right here next to me burning a hole in my desk waiting to get used.
Wonder if I should use it on these 2x4 joins?
    Thanks,

Now I'm thinking I could just pick a side and if one the the cross beams is too high just sand it down.

Please help select pipe supports for mobile table saw.

Needs to support about 30 kilograms

The Plans call for 25mm inner boar / diameter "electrical conduit" (plans from Canadian resident)

    From Ungar Metals:

    a 25mm inner boar "pipe" with 3.2mm wall x 2.3m length x 2 (=4.6mtrs) @ $14 mtr + gst = $64.0 +gst total for me

    or

    25mm outside diameter with 1.5mm wall @ $8 mtr = $36 +gst

Will the 25mm outside diameter hold the 30kilos without bending or flexing?

Is the 25mm inside diameter a bit expensive for what I need it for?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Never mind.

All from cutoffs and left over materials.

    Zero cost.
