I have just spent a few hours looking at the roubo bench that You are building, and it is great. I hope to do one, if i can, Beautiful job. The higher the screw, the tighter the pinch! I have learned a bit as well. Keep up the good work, and enjoy. That will definitely be a way to remember You in the future. Congratulation

Mortises and Tenons
The mortises for the legs were made with a 1" spade drill bit and 1" chisel.
The tenons were made using a circ saw guide and a hammer.
I actually don't own a shoulder/rebate plane. So I need to sharpen some chisels to clean up the tenons...My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

What about a router plane. Would that work or is this too big for the size of the tenon?

Another alternative would be to use a file.

Ended up using a chisel and a rasp with good results. More pictures to come.
Router plane would be good... but don't have one of those either. My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

Tenons cut on all 7 stretchers... woohoo... making process...
The next step is a little tricky, need to work out all the drilling for the leg vice. Needs 6 holes drilled and treaded, a through mortise for the parallel guide, 3 morties for the stretchers, and the screw mount, fun times.

Progress on the legs...
The legs are a little complicated...s o I made myself a list.
- 7 Stretchers = 14 mortises (2 interlocking)
- Drawer bore pins = many holes
- 1 Parallel Guide = 1 through mortise
- Screw Mechanism = 1 x 35mm hole and
- Screw Mechanism = mortise for screw nut
- Screw Mechanism = mortise for acetyl brushing
- 2 wheel mounts = 6 holes, tapped
- Holdfast/bench dog holes/storage = several 3/4" holes
Pics show progress today...My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

Having a 9week old baby, working full time, and studying part time really slows down the woodworking. (Not that I would change a thing.)
Made some progress on the mortises... 12 out of 14 done.
Method: 19mm forsner bit, drill drill drill on the drill press, 6mm chisel to take out the bulk of the corners, 25mm chisel to clean the sides, 19mm chisel to clean the end, then check, a little parring, check, a little parring... repeat.
I still need to go back and make sure they are all totally flush. (Mortise extends 3-6mm deeper than tenon.) When I do this I'll make the tenons for drawbore holes. My blog: ~ for the love of wood ~ - http://theloveofwood.blogspot.com/

This is after all a hobby and at times a consuming one. So you are doing very well indeed.

Yeah, you've had much more progress than I had with 1 new born.
I now have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10 month old and there's no access to the shed at all.

I think we should take bets on who will finish first you or Groggy. You are just comming up for the first year so realy as a part time project (big project) thats not too bad. Its looking good.
