    Post Folding Workbench - plans needed

    Hi All,
    Bought a house and I had to make the compromise on the size of the garage - wife 1 husband 0
    Has anybody got plans for a folding workbench for a garage where space is at a premium- isn't it always??? It will be mounted against a brick wall outer wall. Needless to say it needs to be sturdy but also easy to fold flat against the wall. any ideas out there??

    Hans,

    many years ago I was in the same boat as your self with a single car garage. In my case the house was brick veneer and so one wall of the garage was brick with a couple of brick columns to strengthen it.
    I placed my fold out bench between the columns [1.8m apart] made it so, it would not be any thicker than the column. Bolted it through the wall and the hinges were heavy gate hinges.

    The legs stayed at floor level and swung back into the area between the columns so everything was flush with columns. Had it for 7 years, left it in the house when we moved on.
