Built this bench a few years ago from Bur Oak felled on our property and milled with a chainsaw mill.

    great bench
must be a great feeling making such from your own tree

I was wondering whether ball catches would work with round dogs - how do you find then in use?

Great bench and there would be a lot of satisfaction in making it from you'r own tree.

Fine looking bench you built. The question is are the Husker going to win a game now that they are in the Big 10 + 2.

Dust-- The spring loaded "ball catches" are really just to provide friction so that the dogs will hold a position or turn freely without falling through the hole. On the religious argument of square vs round, I came down on the round side here, reasoning that round dogs might hold irregularly shaped objects better.

    Neil--
Well, see, now that's the thing. I've actually avoided the question until now because I've been rebuilding an old motorcycle, and just use the bench to lay out parts on.

Mate if this a hubble offering, i'd love to see an oustanding one !! Reaaly nice and well thought out. As far as "To nice to use" goes...no way. Get into it, part of the fun is building it the best part is using it.
