Meet Ugly
Ok, some time ago I decided that I needed a new bench near my lathe, aka The Yellow Peril. Yesterday I got roundtoit and cut up everything and joined it with Pocket hole joinery. It is made out of MGP10 Pinus Crapiata Bunnius, but the sticks were reasonably straight and it is strong enough for what I need it for.
Stats : 1800 Long x 610 Wide x 900 High. It has a sheet of 30mm ply for the top deck and 18mm MDF for the bottom. It will have a sheet of 16mm White Malamine on the top deck soonish
The space between the wall and the lathe is approx 620mm and on that wall is the Fuse box, 2 gpo's and associated conduit. The void between Ugly and her sister Fugly is 290mm and in plan 4594215 I thought to fill the void with an extension, but on reconsideration, atm I'll keep the void. I intend to put a Drawer box 600x600 with 6 drawers, with the rest to be shelving and a closed cupboard to keep out shavings.Pat

I'm sure Roubo's bench would have MGP10 stamped on the bottom if you turned it over. Looks great to me - fit for purpose is what's important.
Cheers, Richard

It's purpose is to support the growing amount of accouterments for turning, Torment, Dry Grinder, 20+ chisels, tool posts, centre finders, etc etc etc. I do have a Hardwood bench in the other shed, with a Dawn 9" and Record 52 woodworking vices. One day it may migrate into the new shed, one day . . .
It is a solid, easy to build, relatively cheap bench. I can stand on it and no rocking or rolling. I'm only a small bloke, 130+Kg @181cm.Pat

Nothing wrong with that bench Pat. Solid, stable, a real user. I used a solid core door on trestles for a couple of years, then progressed to something so Fugly it made your bench look like royalty.
Done well there I reckon.
Cheers

I reckon it meets the 2 essential functions:
Works
Fit for Purpose.

Mike it is a Nova 10 in 1 Chuck Gauge, primarily for turning, from Teknatool. I have modified it by superglueing a magnet to the back, so it lives on the lathe.
