I received my kit on Wednesday (delayed in the post) I spent yesterday on it and will finish it later today.
The only comment I will make is that you need to use a 20mm drill as the rod will not go through 19mm or 3/4in holes which I found out the hard way on the back board and had to file the holes larger.

It is pretty basic but will do what I need for now. I recycled a 140mm wide pine bed frame member and I have another one if I choose to update. Since taking the photo, I have glued a piece of white drawer liner (same as router mat) on each face. The panel in it is 400mm wide so the rods are 450mm apart.Last edited by Chesand; 17th April 2020 at 04:02 PM. Reason: Added photo and extra info

I received mine yesterday. I opened the package today.
It certainly isn't Benchrafted quality but I was not expecting it to be for the money. However, it is certainly good for the money. I rate it an excellent buy.

Got mine mostly finished today. 450mm between the screws and about 140mm tall off the bench top. Going to buy a hacksaw from Bunnings later and cut the threaded bar in half, it's absurdly long.
Hard to beat for the price really. The Benchcrafted set is definitely a notch above in terms of fit and finish but this still locks down damn solid.

Thanks for the feedback Bueller. Nice functional looking vise. Those rods are the 500mm ones I guess?
I am still torn between buying that kit (with the shorter rods) or building my own hardware.
I already have a length of 25mm threaded rod I bought for the purpose a few years back so I might go either way yet.I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Dan, you could cut those rods in half - literally - and still have plenty length for dovetailing. Remember, most cases are rarely thicker than 1", and allowing for 2"/50"would be ample ... you could build a second Moxon!

Just cut one of them in half, that way your spare threaded rod is a single 500mm piece.
