Any pictures of how these vices are mounted?
Hare Forbes have some new vices. An email today from FenceFurniture has me thinking about the new bench, it's design and which vices to use.
The HF one looks like some barebones thing and I was wondering if anyone has any pictures, diagrams, etc on how it might mount and how it performs: http://www.machineryhouse.com.au/V189
One on the front left, the other on the right side in the "middle" (or level with the front right).
Anyone with any pix on these styles or even how these vices work?
My bench will be big. A hybrid of a Festool MFT (so I can use that gear) and a classic Roubo....a bit of a bastard....with a large sheet carrying sheet cutting station I can quickly slot/erect on top (ahhhh, like a wine box insert, but bigger and more braces.... Sort of like a massive Kumiko)

Yes, there was that...but I'm on an iPad and it doesn't display. I found one on YouTube that did the job... Some lanky kid who talked a lot
Ordering two now. They look like a reasonable item, let's hope there is some sort of quality to them.

I saw those at H&F and "quality wise" they look like the cast iron and steel generic bench vices that have been around for years (see picture).
I've had two (one large and one small) of those generic vices on my bench for 8 years.
The larger front vice was fine when I first bought it but now it's starting to behave a little tired and worn and racks very badly when pushed
The side vice has hardly been used so is still OK
Even though the quick release mechanism would be useful I'm not sure I would get another vice of that quality.
BTW I wouldn't install any WW vice with the jaws above the level of the bench as shown in that vid, the jaws will get in the way if you want to lay something flat on the bench and the vice is harder to use with right angled pieces protruding at right angles from the jaws. It's much better if the jaws are level with the top of the bench.

failure of Aussie Business YET AGAIN
A few people had a spit at me last week when I posted in another thread about how utterly sh!te Aussie businesses are.
Well, again I have hit the nail on the head. Two vises please, as advertised on your site...... NOPE!
They can TAKE the order, they just cant DELIVER the order.
Out of stock until the end of April.
Another failure. I guess I should be getting used to that by now.Last edited by Evanism; 10th March 2014 at 01:22 PM. Reason: doesnt like cursing

Where is the failure ? You have been advised when h&f expect stock. Frustrating but not a failure yet.
I am still waiting for 3 of 7 items from an order 14 Feb and 4 of 6 items order 18 Feb, both ex China. That website showed full stock when I ordered and paid. Hardly instant supply.
On the other hand, I was buying a printer from Officeworks on Sunday. A very cheap clearance line. In stock when I sent it to the cart, out of stock before I could complete the transaction. I am annoyed but no-one can complain about the service.

It's quite frustrating that in this day and age merchants have issues showing stock status on their website. I've been caught a few times with another online supplier the same way. Order and think everything is good, the next week only half the stuff comes the rest is on "backorder" and you get to wait a month for it to show up. Nothing in the system lets you know this when you place the order either!
I feel your pain Evanism!
