QuickRelease Vice
Hi All,
Has anyone purchased one of these Quick Release Front Vice mechanisms from McJing? Part No QRFV17-11
I'm intersted to hear any feedback about quality & wracking (or lack of it )

The pic you have posted is not of a quick release vise mate!

Hmm.. According to McJing it is - apparently there is a release nut under the plate - quarter turn backwards to release it.

Ah, fair enough then. But going on your description and the picture, you'd have to reach under the bench to access said nut as there is nothing to indicate quick release on the front of the vise. Don't know about you but reaching under the plate to activate a quick release kind of defeats the purpose of it in my books!
Having said that, the pic of that vise looks remarkably like the 2 (albeit a defferent colour) I used to build into my new work bench (https://www.woodworkforums.com/f213/b...kbench-128715/) and I can quite safely say that mine are NOT quick release.

No reaching required
You just back off the handle 1/4 turn & then the nut releases. Wind the handle in and after a 1/4 turn it engages & starts to tighten.
I've used an American version of ths from Rockler (probbaly Chinese made anyway) on a friends banch, but just after feed back on the quality or otherwise of the McJing version. My other option is to order one from the USA - problem is shipping costs (as usual)
BTW, nice job on your bench. Do you get much racking on the end vice?

Fair enough. I've just never seen a quick release vise without the lever running the full length of the threaded section. Makes me wish I knew about these before I built my bench :/
Both my vises were a bit out of kilter when I thought I had finished. I took the top layer of the bench off to access the bolts securing the vise plates. I re-aligned them both and now the are fine.

Here is a picture of one of these from the USA, showing the quick release nut mechanism. (This one is a Milwaukee Tool & Equipment Company vise - bit over priced, I think)
