    Default My first SCMS Bench

    Hi everyone
Finally got round to posting some pictures of my mitre saw bench I made back in the christmas holidays for my Bosch SCMS which I got for my birthday a while back(aren't I lucy), since I was short on floorspace I incorporated a storage shelf above mine to store all my timber etc, and a dust chute/big gulp to collect up what doesn't get collected by the small dust port on the saw itself, which kind of makes it unique in a way.
Incase your wondering how do I reach up the top I usually use a small step ladder or try to reach up, will be soon making a small ladder to attach to it.
    Cheers
    David

Looks pretty good, although, the two posts in front of the bench would get in the way of long material?

I normally use a plank and saw horses.

    Talk about build castles wow.

I agree with the above also lack of room to use the saw to cut 45 mitres with the back blocks they look permanent, the left with the shelving and boxes in the way for long stuff.

Like the platform bench set built around the saw and ducting must be a big shed

    Hi
Thanks for that, sorry about the photo but there is actually a workbench on the right where the plywood sheet is which is exactly the same height as the mitre saw bench so I can lay long pieces up to about three and a half metres long when supported by the extra bench. And as for the mitres, I have made it so that in can swing left and right 50 degrees (max saw can do) and can bevel 50 degrees left and right.

And as for carrying the material to the bench I am getting used to just sliding it down though sometime I forget.
    Hope that answers your questions

    Thanks again for your support

Nice job. I am in need of something similar. The bench I am currently using which I made from scrap is not cutting it anymore.....(pardon the pun ).

How do you find the dust collection? It seems you have a pipe leading beneath the saw? How does this work?

    Hi
The pipe going underneath goes to a big gulp chute which you can see directly behind the saw, the pipe going from the dust port to the saw collects most of the material thrown up at the port, and the rest that falls most of that gets sucked into the dust chute, I usuall only have one blast gate open at a time but have found it to work effectively still with three others open. I have tried using the saw with and without the dust collector on and have noticed a lot of difference. The dust collector I am using is a 3 hp twin bag hafco.
    Hope this helps

Ok. I see now. I have a big gulp at the back of the saw and what it doesn't catch I gather with a canopy that covers the back and top of the saw. I have a large drawer underneath for storage so having one at the bottom like yours is not an option at this stage but I like the idea.
