Default Shoeys "Builders Left Overs" Lathe Bench

    Hi Everyone,

I'm starting to build a really solid bench for lathe out of bits and pieces from the builders yard at work.

40mm Solid Particle board door packer
    Legs: LVL off cuts
Braces: 125 x 45mm Off cut (Had been used for Cement Screed)
    Joins: 75 x 35mm Battem Off cuts

I will post some photos of the progress.

    Cheers
    Shoey

    Default The Bench.

    Hi Shoey,
I'm not telling you how to do things, but my suggestion wood be to put your Lathe on Rails, & therefore you can find all those small items you somehow put under the Lathe, & then get covered by Shavings. Also with Rails, all Shavings go through to the floor.
I had a Wooden Stand for many years, then seen the light of a Metal Frame, with Rails, & now my Lathe doesn't move.
Eventually the Wooden Bench becomes loose, & nothing you do seems to fix it.
So that is my 2 sense worth.
    Regards,
    issatree.

    Cheers issatree.

I'm only just starting out and have a very basic GMC lathe.
Until I really get into woodturning I'm just knocking up the cheapest stuff I can to see if I like it or not. Definatley be upgrading once I have turned a few things.

    Cheers
