Anyone in Sydney that builds benches to spec?
Hi,
I'm a beginner, have a small workshop and would like quite a complex bench (with storage) to best make use of the space.
I don't really have space for a bench with my jobsite saw in there and so I got to thinking, build a torsion box bench (roughly 1100x850) with drawers and have the table saw slide out from underneath it (on really heavy-duty drawer slides that I already have), then I put some large "shims" under the corners of the saw to make it flush with the benchtop.
So does anyone know anyone in Sydney that could work with me to help design, build and deliver a bench like this?
Ideally we could build it all together but ultimately that doesn't matter.
Anyway, thanks for looking.
Cheers
Richard

I think it is overly complex and does not sound all that practical. Anything sitting on drawer slides will not be a firm enough base for a tablesaw to sit on. Lots of people build saws into benches however. Usual way is with the top of the saw flush with the bench top. Wind the blade down and remove fence and the saw table becomes part of the bench top. When sawing the bench top is the outfeed table. Nice and simple.
Regards
John

Motorcycle Scissor Lift Table BLACK
plonk your jobsite saw on one of these and just raise and lower it as required.
with out pictures its hard to visualise what you're talking about. but are you saying you want your jobsite saw in a drawer and when you want to use it you slide it out and put say a 150mm piece of wood under each corner to raise it up to the work bench level?
