Basic Tool Trolley WIP
Im slowly aiming towards building a new bench, One thing that needs to be done is to get the 2 x Kingcrome tool chest off the top of my current bench. I plan to put this trolley on castors and put some drawers in it for more storage.
I dont have many tools so things are a little rough, but hey, thats what you get
Picked up some 75x35 lengths from Bunnings for the legs. Tried to pick the best I could, few flaws and defects in them. I could have bought a single long length, But I would have no way of getting it home in my car. Heres the blanks (Notice my makeshift planing stop?? )

Started by planing 1 edge flat and smooth. Cheap smoothing plane with a nice sharp blade in. Not ideal for jointing boards, but all I have right now

Apply lots of glue and then clamp it up after making sure its dead flat (1 of mine was a bit off, but that part got trimmed off. This one really could have done with another clamp but I ran out towards the end.

Once it was all dry I smoothed them out with the hand plane to get correct thickness. Here are the first 2.

I gave them a quick sand. Second picture compares them. The post in the front has been sanded and the one in the rear has not. Yes I know there are some plane marks and gouges. This is my first time using a Hand plane so was a bit rough to start with :\

Marked and cutting to length. Yep, The only saw I have is a tenon saw.

Cut to length, sanded and ready to be used.

The frame will be put together with M&T joints with dowels to pull it all together. I dont have any clamps big enough to do the whole assembly together so offset Dowels will be put in. Some 6mm plywood for the sides and back will be routed in.
The posts could have been taken down a bit more if I had an electric plane or even a jointer #7 plane. The chamfered edges of the original shape is still visible from the sides. Im not really phased by this. I was not really looking at the grain when I bought the timber and when I glued the pieces together. Next time I will watch this and try to get some boards with nice grain direction, some of these pieces change along the length.
All lessons to be learned, Im only very new to this stuff
Stay tuned for more rough hand tool use

Afraid I was out of the house today looking at a new car for the better half, so no shed time
Working Friday through to Sunday, will be back in the shed on Monday and Tuesday with progress Hopefully. I think I might quickly knock up a router table to help in putting the 6mm grooves in for plywood panels.
