Have not posted in a while as I scrapped one of the bench legs and am waiting for some more timber to arrive.
Unfortunately my gauge moved and I cut the bridle joint too wide. Dryer to glue material back in and split the timber.
I learned a lot. So I broke down the leg and made a mallet out of it.

Got my replacement timber and back on the tools. Getting the hang of the mortise cutting and have found I’m getting much nicer results chopping them entirely with hammer and chisel (albeit a little longer).
Spent a fair bit of time dimensioning down a bit of lumber to use as a cross member.
Marked and cut the first side of the bottom cross member dovetail.
Loose assembled the prepared parts in order to accurately mark the cross member dovetail recess.
All under the watchful eye of the site foreman.

Hi Tom, looking good. Bit worried about the boss, probably barking orders at you all day!

And the bottom stretcher is done, now all that is required is to cut the saddle joint and to plane down the stretcher

One issue with my Moravian Bench is the top saddle. I find the leg vice i installed was causing that joint to pull apart.
I ended up pegging the jointv with dowels but if i was starting again I'd consider dovetailing that joint instead

That’s really good info, could I ask what design you used? Is it the one with the Leg vise attached to bench top and stretcher or the angled one along the leg?
I have already committed to the saddle joint on the other leg set, but may be able to mitigate on how I implement the Leg Vise or pin as you have.

Tom's Morovian Workbench in Tasmanian Oak
Finished my major structural joins and ready to do angled mortise.
One of the dove tails is still sitting a little proud but will plane it down once I’m ready to finish the entire piece.
