    Default Vice handles?

    Hi all,

I went ahead and got a large Carbatec face vice.

My only question is: what do you do about a handle?

    Here it is here:
    Carba-Tec® Large Front Vise : CARBA-TEC

    Cheers

Clamp it in a tail vise and ,,, OH hang on

Have you got access to a bench ? with a face vice at least ?
If you do then cut a square stick as long as you need the handle , finger guage 8 lines on the side
and spoke shave the corners down so you have an octagon .
You will need to hold it in a clamp at each end and the clamp gets held in the vice . Then shave it,and scrape to a round that fits.
shape up two knob type ends , put the stick in the hole , glue and clamp on the knobs.
when dry center punch the ends and drill so a dowel can be inserted and glued through each end.

If you don't have access to a bench, then fix it to a cut out with wedges, be inventive .

Other options include going to Bunnings and finding a dowel or curtain rod that fits, that's if the boom handles are too slim. Cheaper options might be checking the local Op shops for a curtain rod or dumpster diving where someone is renovating.
