Default Any decent quality holdfasts available in Aus?

I was looking at buying some Gramercy HoldFasts that I want for my upcoming bench build, but the postage costs from the US is quite high.

If I buy 2, including shipping, they'll cost me ~42USD each
If I buy 4 (and share postage with someone), including shipping, they'll cost ~35USD each.

    so my options are either:
    - get 4 and share costs with someone else who wants 2.
    - get something else, currently available here
    - get someone (a boilermaker??) to make me a couple for less than it will cost me to get from the US.

    Ideas/suggestions?

    Default Holdfasts

    G'day TN,

I would go to an engineering company and ask how much they can make them for before going overseas. With the right tools they wouldn't take much to make.

Here is the address for another thread on the forum in case you haven't seen it.

    Good Morning Timbernut

I just use Quickgrip Clamps through the dog holes on my assembly bench. The light-weight clamps are regularly on special at 4 for $19.95, so price is nice.

To use, ust knock out the split pin at the end of the bar on the Quickgrip, slide the movable part off the bar, poke the bar through the hole and reassemble.

    Cheers

    Graeme

TN if you go teh local manufacture route your boilermaker will need one to "copy"
IIRC, how well a holdfast works depends a huge amount on its shape
