Riteo folks, some real progress. A mate came round tonight by surprise and I got him to help me with the casters and put the top on......it just fitted, not like a glove, it needed a bit of a tap and some swearing, but we got there

I was really excited on the weekend, I dry fitted the 12 M&T joints and the whole things was only off square by 1mm! more luck than anything else, but hey, I' take it. It was a bit hard as one of the "stretchers" had a warp in it I couldn't fix.

Very well done and do not forget to thank your friend for the help for lifting and shifting.

    LOL, thanks.

It's far from finished. Have fences to make, incra fence to mount. Vice to buy and mount

....and then there is the issue of the dog holes

Great job on the build. I just watched the German video and boy do these guys know how to play. Got to love those Germans (I'm about to marry one so let's hope she shows me...... I won't finish that sentence)

But the table looks great. I never thought of putting a router in a bench.

You have given me ideas of a bench I would like.

If you can get your bench half as good as the one shown you will be doing good.

    Keep up the great work

Great job Elill - is there any movement in the castors when they are locked? (like a little tiny bit of wobble)

    Thanks!

Yep, a tweeny little bit - its darn annoying. Thinking of some options to solve this but its something I'll look at later. Once I get the router in it I'll see if it is a concern or not.....from what I've read it might be a problem?

....these are good quality casters too

Edit: thinking of some drop/screw down somethingerothers. Possible reverse mount some jacks or something

I was thinking more of hand-planing because there can be some pretty substantial forces going on (high angle plane in cranky grain needs quite a push), and you don't want wobbling then. Could be a problem with routing I suppose, but nowhere near the force, I wouldn't think.

Ah I see.....well.....I have 4? hand planes that I don't really use/know how to use (they were my fathers). I'll cross that bridge at some point....

I do like the idea of having 4 things I could wind down and lift it up a cm or two

I think you're going to have trouble getting good quality somethingerothers. The QC seems to have gone out the window on them lately.

LOL, no its still moving along.....sort of. I have had a few other projects in the house (including a whole new living area) so the bench is on hold. It has had plenty of use as it is though!

One thing I am not happy with is the edge of the ply on the top. I have already chipped it a little. I think I'll route a rabbit out and put some hardwood along it

.....also built this for my little girl, for those who dont follow the toy section:
