Hasn't one of you got a chainsaw?

I heard a museum might be interested in it, the NASA Museum as a stand for their Space Shuttle. :)
Chopping the mortise in the leg was fun. Bad enough having to get on the floor in funny positions and chop away, but the dog's bad breath while she was watching got a bit much.
Have to leave it for a few weeks now and head off to Canberra and Brisbane.
I needed a block to help me stay square on the bottom. When doing the top of the mortise I got a bit of chip out, so the clamp is holding the chips while the epoxy goes off.
She thinks 'off' means walk outside and then come back when you stop looking at her
Working on the chop at the moment. I wasn't keen on the base of the chop sitting flat on the roller, I thought it made the bottom of the chop look odd, so I made a minor modification to the Benchcrafted design (another one I'm afraid :o ).
Instead of having the bottom of the chop flat on the roller I rounded the base and made a 'garage' for the wheel. I like the rounded look at the bottom now, it looks more 'finished' IMHO.
Ive rounded the exterior face of the chop for a more organic look. For some reason I didn't want the same radius as I have on the bench top, not sure why but I like the additional curves.
Coming along nicely Groggy. I think you should post a video of the vice when its finally rolling :D
More like a highly technical and sculptural work of art than a workbench Groggy!:p
When finished you will be loathe to use it. Best make another one!:D:p
Nice
looking at piccies 7 and 8, I see that you've lost the steel rod/pin already :p
Woohoo, the vise is nearly done! There is still an acetal bushing to insert which makes everything run super smoothly, then it is ready for a final trim, finish and suede faces to be glued on. The wagon vise needs a new block and some final tweaking, then I can apply the hard burnishing oil to the bench, rub it in and say Viola!
Pic #2 is for Michael, who has been very patient (well, mostly!) and waiting to see how the rollers work.
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
:thyel: Looking the business!
