Fixing the Wobbly Old Bench (WOB)
The WOB has seen better days and I need an outfeed table/sanding bench behind the tablesaw, so the WOB is to be reborn a bit thinner but a lot stronger.
Previously the timber was rough dimensioned at about 50x70mm. It has all been redressed to be 40x60. The frame will be very simple and maybe include a few drawers.
Pic #1 - Here you can see the domino holes drilled and ready to go. I've clamped down one leg to let me bash it a bit to get the leg and rails together.
Pic #2 - Dominos glued and ready to assemble the frame.
Pic #3 - End frame is glued and clamped.

After a brief intermission (Melbourne Working With Wood Show) I plan to get back to the WOB this weekend. I should be able to get the rails, top, back and sides done before work beckons once more.
The joinery will be dominos to make it go quickly. I think another four per joint will be quite strong enough. Then I should have somewhere to hide all the junk again.
Come on Friday .....

Got nowhere today. A few friends came over and we played with the Domino instead.

Showed 'em how it works. They are both old-school joiners. I have been using the router plane to make slots to hold the back panel of the WOB. Will post a few pics later.

The end frame has a stopped plough to hole the back panel. The other shot is the centre riser to stiffen the panel. It has a small M&T to hold it in place in the rails.

Got something done today at least. You must be slipping in and out of consciousness, Festool/darkside Festool/darkside.
I always plan to do lots on weekends, but when I pack up and look at what I've done I wonder just what I got done.

I have done a fair bit but mostly it is silly little ploughs and cutting back panels out of old scrap. Tonight and tomorrow I will be able to use the domino to join the stretchers to the end frames. Then it will at least LOOK like a bench, sort of.
