Default WIP The Simple Pine Workbench

Bought a bench from Andrew79 of this forum and finally got around to finishing it.

The bench had the legs roughly made up and the tops glued but not finished.

I decided it was easiest to finish the top using a router sled. The router sled was a simple 2 piece particle board cut in half and joined by a couple pieces of pine, the router slides pretty easily on the top, theres nothing stopping the router from cutting into the top, however this setup isn't really re-usable and I will make a simple jig everytime I want to plane a top to suit.

The bench was supported on several pecies of SHS the "rails" were again particle board which was ripped 100mm and identical to each other and sits on the SHS. The slab is free from any rocking motion. The result was pretty good and mostly flat within a mm across the top of the bench, the plane marks were easily removed by sanding with a 80 grit paper on the ROS.

Bench planed and sanded with 60 grit paper, legs were mostly assembled, a few more mortices were cut with a router and the fence guide and the bench is pretty much done!

Since this will be a working table, I didn't fuss too much over the fine details.

Next item is to mount my mostly restored woodwork vice on it.
