here's a bench I just finished building for someone who requested it made to this size & spec.
It's got a 1240 x 2100 x 30mm Merbau top built into a 190x45 Ash frame on 4x4 air dried Spotted Gum legs with an extra set of 5x2 legs in the centre for more support.
It's finished in hand burnishing oil

And here it is being used for my current WIP my son's new Blackbutt & Merbau toddler bed - since it's not my bench I'm protecting the top with cardboard

Here's another one I made previously for someone else - one day I'll get to keep one of these for myself...

    Nice benches MM.
Tip. If you put the lids back on all the bottles & cans, you might be able to take straighter photos.

Or if it's like mine "lack" of progress or "disorganized" progress.
No, seriously, I like it, shows good ole honest work happening.

It was free, firstly. It's a type of plywood used as flooring, one side is textured, the other side is smooth (as shown) so it holds pieces in the vice securely. I've got plenty more so if they get damaged it's a simple matter of replacing them. Thanks for the comments.

I have to get rid of the Sepiature so I was thinking of using that or Durian for the frame and Kapur for the legs... but do I cut them to 5in thick and 1 1/2in wide or what? anyways thats the plan so far

    So what think ye?
Well hurrumph! Since no ones answered the question Im gonna have to answer meownself! So Id already cut the rails for the top frame at 4in x 1in and now on reviewing Dereks Ramps Missionary blokes along with several others shown here Im gonna have to ex those and cut a new set!!... sigh... soooo Im now gonna cut some 2in Durian at about 6in wide for the frame and then probably do some more for the end vices and dovetail vice ala Derek... so much for the Jarrah eh? No worries!! The Durian will add some flavor of a different color and still be a nice hardwood to match up with the Jarrah top... not a biggie just thought I had it right first go but well I think Im gonna have to stretch the frame out to a more solid sizing... okay actually since I can then make the rear frame an inch larger so it just up to stop stuff disappearing over the back.

No worries will continue on and get the carcass done tomorrow and start on the frame after thats done... easy as

Cheers Shane... no worries mate!... gawd yer a good bloke helpfull you know?... Yeah I know cant help meself you know just the way I am... well I say good on yer!... Ta mate... your welcome

Nice work handoma, I like it. If I had to be picky, I would like the bolts securing the vice to the table, hidden.but thats just a personal preference. Really nice bench.
