Workbench build diary (retrospective)
Hi All,
A while ago (I'm not admitting how long) I started building a workbench. I finished it about a year ago.
During the build I took lots of photos so I could remember how much work it was. I've toyed with the idea of putting them on the net for other people to see how much work it was too.
Recently I've been reading these forums and having seen a few workbench build diaries I thought that you may enjoy mine.
I've started posting photos on my website:
http://www.bitolithic.com/leisurely_...woodworker.htm
Not a lot of photos there but certainly more explanation of what I needed and the process than what you want to read.
I'll add more photos over time and update this thread when it happens.
Regards
Oldbeamer

Artme,
It WAS what I owned, now I've got a very practical and civilized Barina. The name has stuck though!
I've put up a few more photos and some captions. I know that the captions overrun the photos in one case and I'll have to work on that soon too.

I've added a couple of extra photos the the 'legs' page and started one on the cross-members of the frame.
The latter suffers really badly from the captions being over-written. I'll have a look at that soon but in the meantime the captions can be read from the photo links if you click on them.

You talk about building a workbench with limited tools. I use a handsaw (cutting up sleepers with a handsaw - not fun) and a electric drill.(somebody try and beat that)
Oh and put the pictures in colour...

Good looking web site.
Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

i made mine out of ironbark ,and all i had to cut it with was a plastic knife, and a hand drill, and a blunt hacksaw blade, and one arm tied behind my back and the other cut off at the elbow, and you reckon you had it hard (try and beat that)....................bob
ps;had to type this with my feet,as i also have tennis elbow in my good arm

Funkychicken,
When I said limited tools it was a bit of a lie, an attempt to place myself in the ranks of tool collectors such as yourself. A handsaw AND a drill! I've heard of workshops like that, but never seen one.
In reality all I had is what I was born with and I'd already used up seven nails and three molars grinding the valve seats on a friend's car so I could have the cardboard box the gaskets came in as a roof over my head.
Three nails - one of them split - is all I used.

Obviously this is so retrospective they only had B&W photography so your ask is a bit much feathered one.
